“...this engrossing and heartfelt story touched me deeply.” Laura Burkhart, author of Venus Rising and Watermarks
I have been writing ever since I can remember. My first published poem appeared in the pages of the Western Producer’s Young Cooperators when I was nine years old, under the pen name Gazelle. My first published short story appeared in Our 7¢ Worth, a newsletter my brother Meldon and I started when we were in elementary school.
My adult publications range from poetry and fiction to non-fiction. I am almost finished writing Bella Raquel – my semi-memoir in prose poetry form; my debut novel Elemental Eve has just been released.
A wonderful experience was facilitating a kids’ writing group. Most were ten years old when they started, and a few kept going until they graduated from high school (although the frequency of the get-togethers had decreased quite a bit by the end!).
The next projects that I plan to work on: the collected works of my mother, Fannie Kahan; a novel which started its life as a play; a fantasy novel; and, a non-fiction exposition that I started a few years ago.
Note: The quilt featured on the top right of this page was quilted by Heather Wood in 2016 for my birthday. It showcases my writing along with other writers’ books which I’ve published as Wild Sage Press. (Thank you Heather!)
